What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the most recognized English language certifications in the world. Established in the 1980s, IELTS is one of the pioneers of four skills English language testing, and continues to set the standard for English language testing today.

With millions of tests administered yearly, IELTS is accepted as evidence of English language proficiency by over 8,000 organizations worldwide. The test can be taken at more than 900 test centres and locations in over 130 countries.  Malaysia has many registered test centres for your convenience.

About the Test

IELTS tests all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking.  Candidates can choose between two versions of the test: Academic or General Training (depending on their academic or professional aims). Test results will fall within a range of scores or ‘bands’ ranging from 1.0 to 9.0. A higher band signifies a superior average achievement in all four skills tested.
